Another Site

Today, I visited another damaged site along the Bebetsu River, one of the tributary of the Ishikari River.

Bank erosion almost leached to the levee.

Upper panel is a picture of 3 years ago, and the lower panel is this year after the flood.
All the trees were cut down to lower the water level during the flood, however, the velocity increased and thus the erosion became active.

The site was already covers with a lot of concrete bricks installed for urgent bank protection.

80% of the both side banks were already covered with concrete bricks and the erosion took placed at the part of without concrete bricks.
